Launch

The Launch was the largest Royal Navy ship’s boat type in use between 1793 and 1815. The 26 feet 12-oared version of the Launch was carried by 5th rate frigates carrying 44 guns. Apart from rowing it double banked by 4 to 12 oars, it could also be propelled by sailing, using a variety of rigs. A Launch could carry one or two masts. One, or both of the sails, could be of the lug type.
