Launch

The Launch was the largest Royal Navy ship’s boat type in use between 1793 and 1815. It was used for transporting water, cargo and crew, for maintenance work on the mothership and for weighing the anchors by using removable windlass and stern davit. The 26 feet 12-oared version of the Launch was carried by 5th rate frigates carrying 44 guns. Larger ships carried a bigger launch, smaller ships a smaller one.
